Paper Lantern

Good Morning!! I have been sick the last few days, with body aches, fever, chills and a sore throat. This is the one thing I dislike about winter, it seems like every year I am sick around this time!! I am feeling alittle bit better so I thought I would do a quick post today showing you how to make a paper lantern inspired by the Martha Stewart Lantern Template. I watched a You Tube video on how to use the lantern template and figured I could make a lantern without the Template. Being a single mom I try and save money how ever I can. Below I will show you how I made it.

6x6 paper folded in half, folded side at top of score board
score at every 5th mark, starting at top and leaving 3/4 inch at bottom un- scored

cut each score line, I decorated mine using K Andrew Design Art Stamps : Winter Wishes

unfold the paper and form a circle and glue the ends together

for the centre I formed a tube using white paper
and pushed down so that the slits pushed out and glued the paper
in place

I used a battery operated tea light under it to light it up

Simply Sunday: Joys of The Season Challenge

Good Morning!! I hope you all are having a great Sunday, it is very quiet around here as I just got home from church and my daughter is at her fathers place til supper. I am busy making Christmas cards as well as finishing up scrapbook layouts!! I wanted to post my project for the Simply Sunday Challenge that is going on right now over at Getting Cricky With K Andrew. The theme is Joys of the Season: Holiday Decoration. You can interperate this how ever you like. Since it is Christmas I decided to make a Christmas wreath. I still have to figure out how to hang it on my craft room door with out making holes, right know it is in the hallway hanging on a nail that was already in the wall.  If you saw my blog yesterday you would have seen the sneak peek of my project, well here is the whole thing:

What I Used:
K Andrew Designs Art Stamps: Winter Wishes (Winter,Frosty,Snow,Brrr..)
Paper rosettes ( some are 1 1/4" by 12" and some are 1 1/2" by 12")
1" circle punch
Cuttle Bug die (sorry can't remember the name of it)
Hot glue gun
Garland from dollar store formed into a circle
Red ribbon from dollar store to hang it

WHERE DID IT GO?!?!?

Good morning!! I am so relieved to be typing this post this a.m as last night I went to check my blog and it said it no long existed!!!!! I was so freaked out, I hopped onto facebook to see if anyone was online who could help. my sweet DT sister Ildi from The Craftin Mama was a big help, she checked my blog and sure enough she couldn't find it either, she emailed me the message it was saying and told me it was ok to contact blogger and do what they told me to do. Please head over to Ildi's blog and show her some love. Big hugs to her!! So if this ever happens to you click on the "contact us" and give them your phone number and they will call your home with a verification number that you type into the blogger and then your blog will be back up and running!! I am ever thankful because I don't know if I would have wanted to startmy blog from scratch again!!

 I will be posting a project tomorrow for the new Simply Sunday Challenge that will be going on over at Getting Cricky With K Andrew, can't wait to show you what I have made!! Ok ok I will show you a sneak peak!!

Advent Calender

Good Afternoon!!  I just thought I would post the advent calender that I made for my daughter this year.

It is made using a plastic organizer
Recollections Holiday prints paper
pom poms
Designer Calendar Cartridge for the numbers cut at .8"
I measured each square and cut the paper about 1/2 an inch bigger so that I could score the bottom of the paper to have a flap to attach to the plastic container. I have filled each section with mini stamps and sugarless suckers as I don't give my daughter candy or chocolate (there is diabetes on the other side of the family) If you made an advent calendar this year I would love to see it, please leave me a comment with your blog address so I can take a peak at your advent!!
