Good Morning. Since it is world card making day I figured I should post a card. But first have you ever made a card and put it away in your stash and then when the time comes you just don't want to part with it?? Well yesterday that happened to me, one of the ladies we babysit for gave my mom and me each a beautiful leaf tray with a box of fudge and a gift card for Thanksgiving! My mom wanted me to make a card for her and I was just about to do so when I remember I already had a fall themed card in my stash. When I pulled it out I really didn't want to let go of it, it's one of the cards that I actually really like of mine. you can see which card I am talking about HERE. Ok so on to my card for today. Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge Blog has an "Anything Goes" challenge going on right now, I actually prefer when there is a theme (as it is more challenging) but I figured I would make another Christmas card. My inspiration actually came from Norma over at PinkBlingCrafter, I had won some blog candy of her's and inside was this beautiful card using spellbinders I believe (if I am wrong Norma I am sorry). I had seen shaped cards before using spellbinders but not like this. What I did and I am not sure if this is how she did it but I cut two of the same shape and then scored a little section of one of them and glued that part to the other shape to get the base of my card (if that makes sense). the back piece is the one that is scored so that you can't see any fold marks from the front. The cards using spellbinders that I have seen and made have you fold a piece of card stock in half and place the die just off the edge of the cardstock so that the full die when cut out looses it's shape. I prefer the way that Norma did it!! Here is my card:
What I Used:
Peachy Keen Stamps: Our 2 Angels In Heaven
Memento Ink: Tuxedo Black
Spellbinders Nestabilities: Blossom Four
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder: D'vine Swirl
Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink: Alabaster
Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils
Stickles: Golden Rod
Ok so if you were confused with all my mumble jumble then maybe looking at the card you get the picture!! All the points are intact with this card, below is a picture of a card I made in the past with the second technique that I had described so that you can see the difference:
When folding the card stock and then die cutting you loose one of the points! Thanks Norma for introducing me to a different technique where the shape remains intact!!
Well the Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge ends on October 10th at Midnight so get crafting!! Hoping to find some time today to get some more cards done but with it being Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada it might be a little tricky!!
Have A Great Weekend!!
God Bless!

ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! You threw me off for a second there when you said one of the moms gave you goodies for Thanksgiving! I forgot yours isn't the same time as ours!
ReplyDeleteI love your card and I totally got what you meant about the points!!!
What a beautiful card!! The angel is so pretty!! How sad that I didn't even make a card on world cardmaking day :( I make my shape cards the second way you showed, but then I cut another of the shape and glue it over the top so you don't see the fold. Happy Sunday :)
